If I have a new phone number can I get my old phone number removed from Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

If I have a new phone number can I get my old phone number removed from Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

In a word, yes. In order to get your MFA reset you will need to do the following:
Send an email to helpdesk@jeffersonstate.edu and include the following
  1. Your name
  2. A#
  3. Date of birth
  4.  Picture ID confirming your identity
Once we have this information and can confirm your account, we can clear out your old phone number. This will allow you to re-register your new number and gain access to your account.  To re-register perform the following steps:

o   NOTE: If you recently setup your MyJSCC account within the past hour, you may not be able to sign in immediately. It can take up to an hour from account setup before your Microsoft Outlook/Office 365 account password to sync with your MyJSCC password.

  • You may be prompted on your first login to Office 365 to setup Multi-Factor Authentication. Follow the on-screen instructions and it will walk you through step-by-step.
  • You will be asked to provide a phone number that can receive messages. Make sure you have the device you are going to use present when setting up your MFA.
  • There are three main methods:

o   Text: When prompted for a code, you will be sent a text message containing a 6-digit code. These codes are only valid for about 10 minutes. After that, you'll have to request a new code. You cannot reuse old codes.

o   Call: If your phone is unable to receive text, you can use the "Voice Call" method. Upon request for a code, you will receive a phone call from a 1-8XX-XXX-XXXX number to verify your identity. Simply answer the call and follow any prompts the automated voice instructs you to do.

o   Authenticator App: This is for more advanced users with smartphones such as an Android phone or Apple iPhone. Simply choose this method, install the app and continue with the instructions.

  • Once you've verified and setup your MFA method, you may want to consider adding an alternate method. You can go here: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info within your Microsoft account to add (or change) your MFA authentication method(s).

Multi-Factor Authentication has been implemented to provide additional security for our students and staff by requiring additional verification of your identity through the means of a secondary code login. This can help prevent any unauthorized access to both Student and Employee accounts alike. We strongly recommend you set MFA up as soon as possible. Also, do not forget to setup your security questions with answers you can remember. Doing so will help you help yourself without having to wait on anyone else to help you.

Please let us know if you are still having trouble getting logged into your account.
